Greens aerification

We finished up aerating all 19 greens in 2 days. We really had great weather this week and the final product really shows. I think with some warm days and fertilizer, we should have the greens healed in going into winter.

Course update

This week we have moved to the back nine to start our under brushing and tree trimming. As you can see in these photos, the hillside to the right of 11 tee is being cleared. Also this week we are fertilizing 20 acres of native areas.

Birthday lunch

Today we celebrated Socorro's 66th birthday. Coco as we like to call him, came to work with us this spring. He brings lots of energy and smiles every day he comes to work. Prior to working here, he was with course crafters, a golf course construction company. Happy b-day coco!

Aeration schedule

It's that time of year, the time that we get to poke millions of holes in your golf course. It's a necessary evil. Aerating helps reduce compaction, thatch, and get oxygen to the roots. This week we are aerating and topdressing the tees. This will be followed up with a fertilizer to help recovery. The week of October 28 we will close nine holes each day and do the same process to the greens. Hopefully with a little warm weather we can get some recovery on the greens going into winter. The entire month of November will be devoted to the fairways. This is a slow process and requires a lot of cleanup. Below are some pics of the tees that were aerated yesterday .

Seeding weak areas

We started to seed some weak areas on the golf course last week. If your ball happens to lie in one of these areas take it as ground under repair.

Bear in bunker

Saw some foot prints of a bear in the bunker on #11 last week. We have heard that there is a family of 5 roaming the valley.

Amazing sunrise's and sunsets

Took these pics the last few days. This is one of the reasons I love my job so much.
