Detailing golf carts

On the days that we can't work outside due to weather , we have been helping Hugh get his carts ready for the season. It takes about 45 minutes per cart, this involves pressure washing the cart, waxing and using a gel on the black trim.

March weather

Yesterday brought snow and high winds. This morning it was 16 and a dusting of snow on the course. Next week looks to be much warmer. This week we fertilized the golf course using a pre- emerge for crabgrass. This fertilizer will give us 3/4 lb of nitrogen. We are working on bunkers as well as spraying a product called embark. Embark reduces the poa seed heads. More on this later.

Course update for march 10 2014

This week we will be finishing up aerification of the fairways that didn't get finished last fall. There is a tremendous amount of labor involved in the cleanup process. With the warm weather today and tomorrow, we were able to mow greens, change cups and mow fairways. The irrigation system was brought up this week and is fully charged and ready to go. It came through the winter with very minimal  problems. We have rain in the forcast for Wednesday and the temperature is supposed to be near 15 by Thursday morning. We will start to edge all bunkers this week and probe sand depths for a consistent depth. On the equipment side of things, we only have a hand full of small equipment that requires oil changes. Enjoy tomorrow , winter isn't over just yet.
